March 2021 Rally
The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park
Well, it’s been a year since COVID-19 pretty much wiped out our 2020 Rally Schedule. But happy days are here again and we’re once again on the rally circuit as we kicked off our first River City Travelers Rally for 2021 at “The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park” in Fredericksburg, TX. And what a rally it was! Eighteen coaches and travel trailers made the trip with 39 people in attendance. The weather was great for the most part, a little windy perhaps on Wednesday for the early arrivals, with daytime temperatures of 68-74 degrees and 38-45 degrees in the evenings. The facilities at the Vineyards were first rate with a huge rally hall; a fully equipped kitchen; and exceptionally well maintained and manicured RV sites.
Wagon Masters Hans & Linda Liebe were assisted by John & Sue Gruchacz; John Lyon & Margaret Walsh; and Dan & Gail Wight.
On Wednesday night early arrivals gathered at Mamacita’s Mexican Restaurant, in Fredericksburg, Texas for some delicious margaritas, cervezas and Mexican food.
Thursday morning started off with coffee, Bloody Mary’s, and Mimosas.
Later in the day a few of us went to the Alamo Springs Café, for lunch followed by a little bit of souvenir shopping in downtown Fredericksburg.
Happy Hour started at 5:00 PM with the introduction of a Margaritaville Margarita machine provided by Hans & Linda Liebe. Dinner kicked off at 6:00 PM with salad, Linda Liebe’s world-renowned lasagna, garlic bread and mini-key lime pies.
Friday morning began with Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, and coffee followed by breakfast with fruit and burritos from Hilda’s Tortillas in Fredericksburg, TX. After breakfast several of the ladies went shopping in Fredericksburg while other members of the group went sightseeing or on wine tasting tours.
Friday evening began with Happy Hour at 5:00 PM followed by a dinner , prepared by Margaret Walsh and John Lyon, consisting of salad; chicken & beef fajitas (cooked on the pavilion grill) ; peppers; beans; and a choice of two delicious deserts. After a superb dinner, the group gathered at the rally hall for several rounds of “Bingo” . The big pot winner of the evening was Gail Wight .
Saturday morning again started off with coffee, Bloody Mary’s, and Mimosas. Breakfast consisted of fruit; pancakes (about 80); and sausage – all of which was prepared by Margaret Walsh and John Lyon along with the help of our own in-house short-order cook Leroy Wilkes.
5:00 PM brought on another Happy Hour and was followed by a catered meal from “My Own Chef” that consisted of Salad; Beef Tenderloin; Chicken Breast; Mashed Potatoes; Brussel Sprouts; Rolls; Lemon Cheesecake and Chocolate Pecan Cake.
All-in-all the March 2021 rally in Fredericksburg, TX turned out to be one of the best rallies in recent memory. A great campground with excellent facilities; a wonderful area for sight-seeing and shopping; and a fantastic group of fellow rally-mates to visit with. What more could one ask for?
