Newsletter

Well, it’s the start of a new year and February kicks off the rally season for the River City Travelers.  This month we moseyed on over to the Skyline Ranch RV Park in Bandera, Texas. Twelve coaches/RVs were in attendance with a total of 24 people.

On Wednesday night early arrivals gathered at Pap’s Italian Grill in Bandera, Texas for some delicious food.

Wagon Masters Hans & Linda Liebe were assisted by Phil & Pam Dieterich; John & Ruth Lickvar; and Dan & Gail Wight.

Thursday morning started off with an “Early arrival potluck breakfast,” coffee, Bloody Mary’s, and Mimosas.    Later in the day we went to Camp Verde for lunch and a little bit of souvenir shopping.  Happy Hour started at 5:00 PM and dinner kicked off at 6:00 PM with salad, Linda Liebe’s world-famous spaghetti & meat sauce, garlic bread and ice sherbet for dessert.

Friday morning began with Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, and coffee followed by breakfast with fruit and tacos from   El Jacalito Mexican Restaurant in Bandera.  After breakfast several of the ladies went shopping at a local quilt shop while other members of the group went sight seeing or visiting friends who live in the area.

Friday evening began with Happy Hour at 5:00 PM followed by dinner at TJ’s @ The Old Forge.  After a superb dinner the group gathered at the rally hall for several hard-fought rounds of “Pokeno Card Bingo”   .

Saturday morning again started off with coffee, Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas.  Breakfast consisted of fruit and Ruth Lickvar’s famous breakfast casserole.  We conducted another Happy Hour at 5:00 PM and celebrated the birthdays of  Pam Dieterich, Daryl Waldrop, and Vickie Pounds with some cake and some of the worst singing that anyone could have experienced.  We followed happy hour with dinner at  Brick’s River Café.  After dinner we returned to the rally hall for a couple of rounds of the   Left-Center-Right dice game as well as Left-Center-Right Wild.  The big winners of the evening were John Lickvar and Linda Liebe.  Now, it’s my understanding, but not confirmed, that John now thinks he has enough cash on hand to buy a new Corvette.  Hmmm, wonder what Ruth might think about that? Anyway, as our two big winners walked off with their cash we all said farewell to each other until the next rally at the Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park in Fredericksburg, Texas March 19 thru 22.
