The April rally in Aransas Pass, TX turned out to be a whole lot of fun!  Fourteen coaches and travel trailers made the trip with 27 people in attendance.  The weather started off really great on the first day but turned cloudy, windy and a little cool for days two and three with temperatures in the upper 60’s and around 50 in the evenings.  The facilities at Southern Oaks were first rate with a huge rally hall; a fully equipped kitchen; and exceptionally well maintained and manicured RV sites.

Wagon Masters Hans & Linda Liebe were assisted by John & Ruth Lickvar and Dan & Gail Wight.

On Wednesday night early arrivals gathered at Paradise Key Dockside Bar & Grill in Rockport, Texas for some delicious drinks, sea food and dessert.

Thursday morning started off with coffee, Bloody Mary’s, and Mimosas.

Later in the day a few of us went to Mickey’s Bar & Grill, in Aransas Pass, for lunch followed by a little bit of souvenir shopping in Port Aransas.

Happy Hour started at 5:00 PM with tasty Margarita’s, courtesy of the Margaritaville Margarita machine provided by Hans & Linda Liebe.  Dinner kicked off at 6:00 PM with Fried Fish, Shrimp, hush puppies, green beans, corn, butter rolls, and peach cobbler, all of which was catered by the Butter Churn Restaurant .  Following Dinner, we settled down for 3 games of Bingo .  The big winners of the evening were  Ruth Lickvar, Rick Coy and Gary Wood.

Friday morning began with Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, and coffee followed by breakfast with fruit and breakfast tacos from Taqueria Mexico in Aransas Pass, TX.  After breakfast, several of the ladies went shopping in Rockport while other members of the group went sightseeing in Port Aransas and Corpus Christie.

Friday evening began with Happy Hour at 5:00 PM followed by another dinner catered by the Butter Churn consisting of of BBQ Ribs, Chicken and Sausage, Mac & Cheese; Coleslaw; rolls; and apple cobler for desert.  After a superb dinner, the group gathered at the rally hall for the “Unraveling of the Mysteries of the Globe of Treasure.”  This game involved the rolling of dice and the unraveling of a huge ball of Saran Wrap containing multiple prizes within it.  The contest was intense and fast paced.

Saturday morning again started off with coffee, Bloody Mary’s, and Mimosas.  Breakfast consisted of fruit; French Toast; and sausage – all of which was prepared by Ruth and John Lickvar.  After breakfast we celebrated Ruth Lickvar’s birthday with an RV themed cake .  Following the birthday celebrations, we conducted a Club Business Meeting.  Several of our members then drove to Rockport for lunch at Fulton’s Irish Pub & Grill  and then went shopping at a local flea market.

5:00 PM brought on another Happy Hour and was followed by another catered meal from “The Butter Churn” that consisted of Sirloin Steak, Twice Baked Potato, Green Beans, Corn and Orio Fluff Cake for dessert.  After dinner we gathered and played several rounds of LCR, both regular and wild.
